Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), a hypothetical form of AI capable of matching or surpassing human intellectual abilities across a wide range of domains, presents profound challenges and opportunities in ethics, technology, and society.
While estimates vary widely, some experts suggest that AGI could potentially emerge within the next 5 to 40 years, underscoring the urgency of addressing its implications. This workshop will explore the multifaceted impacts of AGI on humanity, academia, and society at large, considering critical questions such as:
- What ethical considerations and dilemmas arise as AGI approaches or surpasses human-level intelligence?
- How might the advent of AGI transform human cognitive processes, including problem-solving, reasoning, and decision-making?
- What are the potential implications of AGI for academic research methodologies, educational paradigms, and policy formulation?
- How can we ensure that AGI development aligns with human values and benefits society as a whole?
- What governance structures and regulatory frameworks might be necessary to manage the risks and harness the potential of AGI?
Through these discussions, the workshop seeks to enhance understanding of AGI’s implications for our future.
Looking forward to seeing you,
